June 7, 2022
Dear Families,
Registration for the upcoming Religious Education school year is now available online through Faith Direct. We are excited to offer you a variety of class times and options. When registering for the upcoming year please make sure to select the class time and option that will work best with your family’s schedule. Students are expected to attend the class that they are registered for.
In the upcoming year Religious Education classes will meet in person weekly, as well as an option that meets every other week, Family Catechesis. There is more information located on the parish website pertaining to the different options available to you. If you wish to homeschool your child for Faith Formation you will need to contact the Religious Education Office and set-up a meeting with Mrs. Katie Sukley, the parish D.R.E..
The parish Religious Education program exists in order to support you in your role as the primary educators of your household by providing a systematic presentation of the basics of the Catholic faith. When this systematic presentation resonates with the child’s lived experience of the faith in the home, it becomes deeply meaningful and lasts a lifetime. Parents catechize their children primarily through the lived experience of the faith and through conversations often brought about by specific occasions. Attending Mass each week is a vital part of your child's faith formation journey.
Finally, If you are currently a catechist or would like more information on becoming a catechist please contact the Religious Ed Office prior to registering for Religious Ed.
The link to register for the upcoming year is located on our parish website as well as here: Religious Education Registration 2022-2023 (ministryforms.net)
I along with all the catechists and Religious Ed volunteers hope to partner with you in the faith formation of your children. We are thankful to our dedicated volunteer catechists who strive to provide age appropriate and meaningful catechesis for the students each time they meet.
I look forward to working with you and your children and hope that we can journey together towards a closer relationship with God and His presence in our daily lives. Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. We hope you and your families have a wonderful start to your summer.
God Bless,
Katie Sukley
Director of Religious Education
Here at St. Christopher's we offer a variety of weekly class options for students and families. Please select a class time that will work best with your families schedule. Weekly attendance at both class and Mass is expected. Classes are filled on a first come basis and are limited to 12 students per class, no exceptions.
Weekly In Person Sunday 8AM Class (Grades K-8th)
On Sunday mornings from 8AM-8:50AM we offer grades K-8th. These classes begin in September and end the first week of May.
Weekly In Person Sunday 10:10AM Class (Only 2nd Grade & 8th Grade)
There is a weekly class option for all 2nd grade students as well as students in 8th grade). These classes begin in September and end the first week of May.
Weekly In Person Wednesday 6:15-7:15PM Class (Grades K-8th)
Our Wednesday evening classes are for students in grades K - 8th. They begin in September and end the first week of April.
Our Family Catechesis option will meet twice a month on Sundays from 10-11AM. We will be using A Family of Faith by Sophia Institute Press. A Family of Faith encourages and equips parents to catechize their children. By attending two meetings a month at the parish, parents who participate receive everything they need to teach their children about the Catholic Faith at home. For Family Catechesis the student’s assignments are completed both at home and at the parish.
If you would like to learn more information or have any questions about our Family Catechesis option please contact Katie Sukley.
Please note that the Sacramental Prep Programs at St. Christopher's Church are separate and distinct from our regular Religious Education class offerings; as stated in our Diocesan Policy on all Sacramental Programs including First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, & Confirmation. If your child is planning to receive one of their sacraments this year please make sure you complete both Sacramental Prep & regular Religious Ed Registration sections of the registration form.
Your child must be enrolled in both their grade level for Religious Education as well as the appropriate Sacramental Prep (unless they attend a Catholic School).
