On this weekend, when we rest from our usual labors, loving Father, we pray for all who shoulder the tasks of human labor—in the marketplace, in factories and offices, in the professions, and in family living. We thank you, Lord, for the gift and opportunity of work; may our efforts always be pure of heart, for the good of others and the glory of your name. We lift up to you all who long for just employment and those who work to defend the rights and needs of workers everywhere. May those of us who are now retired always remember that we still make a valuable contribution to our Church and our world by our prayers and deeds of charity. May our working and our resting all give praise to you until the day we share together in eternal rest with all our departed in your Kingdom as you live and reign Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Are you kidding me??!!! The Summer is OVER?? School starts NOW! St Christopher’s Backpack Program will also be providing weekend food bags to Matapeake Middle School (in addition to Stevensville Middle and Matapeake Elementary). So we probably will have between 30 and 35 children total (not too bad since Grasonville Elementary alone has about 60 children that are served in the Backpack Program by other Churches). So while you are thinking about your children and grandchildren starting school, pick up individual packs of cold cereal and oatmeal, individual shelf stable milk (Horizon on sale this week), 100% juice boxes, individual Chef Boy R D microwave cups, etc…you have the idea. I know we can step up and help those who need weekend food in the home! “Do not let those who hope in You be put to shame because of me..” (Psalms 69:6 )
Did you know...that at the Knights of Columbus’ 137th Supreme Convention in Minneapolis, we celebrated: $15.7 million and 76.7 million hours given to charity; $250,000 in humanitarian aid at the U.S. Southern border; initiatives honoring Native American and First Nation communities; Naming Kendrick Castillo a Knight of Columbus. This 18-year-old hero died saving his classmates. Consider joining the Knights of Columbus to assist us with our charitable initiatives! We are always seeking new members who can help us in our programs to support our Parishioners and members of our community. Interested men 18 years of age and older should contact Mike McQuillan, MCQ521@aol.com or 301-655-8897 or Jim Klunk 410-924-2270 or klunkinc@gmail.com.

Have you ever thought that EVERY human being is a child of God? How does He care for all His children (?)…that job belongs to those of us who are alive and capable at the time!! The Holy Spirit moves us to care for each other…to love ALL our neighbors as ourselves. The OUTREACH Food Bank is your “agent” to do just that…but we need your help…Our current needs are: canned tuna and chicken, canned beef stew, canned spinach, peanut butter crackers. There is a moving song and video which is encouraging to all children of God. “..Of deliverance, from my enemies Till all my fears have gone I'm no longer a slave to fear I am a child of God...” (No Longer Slaves (Official Lyric Video) - Jonathan David & Melissa Helser)
