Our beautiful celebration of the Triduum may be over, but Easter continues until June 9!! This weekend we remember the Divine Mercy of Jesus, of which we all have need. Many of our parishioners took advantage of the Lent Penance Service to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and I know it was a source of great grace for them. I remind you that I am available every Saturday from 4:00 – 4:45 pm in the Reconciliation Room for anyone who wishes to be absolved from their sins.
Some of our younger members have been working with their parents to prepare to receive Eucharist for the first time. They also worked together and are now ready for their First Holy Communion. Next Saturday we will celebrate with them and their families, and I invite you to all pray that this will be the first of many Holy Communions they will receive in their lifetimes. As I always tell them, First Communion is not the most important one you will ever receive. The most important one is the next one… and the next one… and the next one…
We still have not yet reached our goal for the Annual Catholic Appeal, and I ask once again that those who have not yet made a pledge consider doing so now. Our diocese can only continue to provide the services to all our members if we join together and help. Together we are so much stronger, and united as a diocese we can care for all who are in need. Thank you for your generous support.
For the next 10 days I will be hosting a young priest from Korea. Fr. Paschal is discerning whether or not he might ask to come to serve the Korean community in our diocese. In addition to some sightseeing, he will participate with us in our liturgies and, hopefully, speak with the bishop to introduce himself. I first met him through the Focolare Movement when I traveled to the Philippines 2 years ago, and then visited him in South Korea last year. I know you will welcome him and make him feel at home here on Kent Island during his short stay!
Have a great week and Happy Easter, everyone. May God bless you and your loved ones!
Father Giuliano
